Program Details 2025

AIMEP in 2025 is an engaging, immersive hybrid program incorporating a 5-week online component and reciprocal 10-day international visit programs.

The online program in August 2025 allows delegates from Indonesia and Australia to connect with each other and share insights, as well as interacting directly with scholars, community leaders, and other guest speakers.

Following the online component, delegates will then travel to each other’s country to experience its life, culture, and society first hand in an intensive 10-day visit program.

We anticipate that Australian delegates will travel to Indonesia from 15-26 September 2025, while Indonesian delegates will head to Australia from 20-31 October 2025. Delegates will also be invited to join part of the visit program in their own country.

2-3 sessions per week, across 5 weeks (including introductory and concluding sessions)

Indonesian and Australian delegates will participate as one group, meeting with experts, leaders and practitioners to discuss a range of topics, including:

  • Understanding our neighbouring country
  • Leadership
  • Youth and education
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Community development
  • Women and gender
  • Mental health
  • and more

The planned schedule for these sessions will be:

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Saturdays

  • 4-6pm WIB
  • 5-7pm WITA/Perth (AWST)
  • 6-8pm WIT
  • 7-9pm Melbourne/Sydney (AEST)

The online program enables delegates to get to know each other while gaining insights into the unique context of communities in Indonesia and Australia. We aim for all the online discussions and interactions to be a safe space for insightful and respectful dialogue.

Delegates’ online experience will provide an important foundation of knowledge and connections that will prepare them to make the most of the in-person visit to your neighbouring country. Participation is required for all delegates.

10 day in-person visit to your neighbouring country

After completing the online component, delegates will take part in a 10-day visit program to each other’s country.

The program will visit two cities in each country, where you will meet a range of organisations and individuals, including from government, community organisations, media, schools, universities, faith organisations, and places of cultural and historical significance. You will also have the opportunity to meet and network with fellow delegates and other young leaders.

All delegates will attend the full in-person visit to their neighbouring country, as well as selected components of the in-person visit to their own country.

During the program, there will be several opportunities to formulate ideas and begin preparations to create a collaborative project. Projects are intended to offer delegates the opportunity to share their skills and expertise in addressing a current need in their community or between Indonesia and Australia.

On completion of the AIMEP’s in-person component, delegates will then work together to implement their project plans.

Projects should ideally be completed, or significant progress made, within 3 months of returning to your home country.

On completion of the AIMEP, delegates will join a dynamic international network of 300+ alumni from across more than 20 years of the AIMEP in both countries, offering opportunities to connect and engage with a network of leaders across diverse fields, interests, and professions.

The program was designed with heart. The platforms were very well-prepared. The energy in every session was amazing. And most of all, I truly enjoyed the delegates’ virtual discussions.
