Program Highlights

AIMEP is an excellent program that broadens perspectives and introduces Australia’s multicultural society with respect for the human rights of all its citizens, including Muslims. Importantly, it brings together two different nations to exchange ideas and build mutual understanding and future collaboration. I gained many experiences while in Australia, especially connecting with Muslims in Australia and people of other religions. Meeting our brothers and sisters in Australia gave me many experiences with diversity.

One of my most memorable experiences was visiting an interfaith community in Canberra, where I met a Jewish person and we discussed the Islamic religious context in Indonesia. I also met Governor-General Quentin Bryce, the representative of the Queen of England in Australia, and we discussed English language learning in pesantren. These discussions enabled us to provide an understanding that Muslims in Indonesia are advanced and moderate.

Through AIMEP, I gained an international network with many connections in Australia. It’s is not only a program for building people-to-people understanding but also contributes towards government-to-government cooperation between Indonesia and Australia.
