Mosaic Connections

Mosaic Connections is a Melbourne-based consultancy specialising in building networks and understanding between diverse communities in Australia and Southeast Asia.

The Mosaic team bring to our projects expertise in cross-cultural facilitation, curated program design, alumni engagement, and professional communications, combined with a strong commitment to fostering a respectful space for genuine, high impact learning, exchange and dialogue.

We have extensive experience in delivering high impact programs both online and in-person for diverse audiences of differing group sizes and linguistic backgrounds. Our unique programs draw on Mosaic’s well-established networks within faith communities, government, the community sector, media and others in Australia and across Southeast Asia.

Mosaic has delivered the flagship Australia-Indonesia Muslim Exchange Program (AIMEP), funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, from 2013 until the present, and delivered the Australia-ASEAN Council’s flagship Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program (AAMEP) from 2019-2023.

Our expertise also extends to cross-cultural training, online and in-person program design and delivery, and alumni engagement initiatives for government and private clients in Australia and the region.

Rowan Gould

Co-founder

Rowan Gould is a founder and co-director of Mosaic Connections. He is a skilled educator and facilitator with a passion for building understanding among diverse communities.

He is a former CEO of the Islamic Council of Victoria, and was an academic in the Department of Arabic & Islamic Studies at the University of Melbourne for over a decade.

Rowan has Indonesian heritage, and lived in Indonesia for over 20 years. He has studied in a number of different countries including Indonesia, Jordan, Spain, Morocco, and Syria. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Bachelor of Commerce, and Master of Arts in Islamic Studies from the University of Melbourne. Rowan took part in the AIMEP in 2006.

Brynna Rafferty-Brown

Co-founder

Brynna is passionate about Indonesia, and about connecting like-minded individuals and communities across the globe. She has been a researcher at La Trobe University on issues relating to international refugees in Indonesia and Australia, and has volunteered and worked for the Islamic Council of Victoria. Brynna has experience in Indonesian language consultancy for Victorian curriculum development and as a Project Officer with Asialink, where she developed the Soul of Islam lecture series.
 
Brynna holds a Master of International Development from La Trobe University and a Bachelor of Arts (Indonesian and Linguistics) from the University of Melbourne. Brynna speaks Indonesian fluently, and has worked, studied and lived in Southeast Asia, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
