Step one is to have all your documents ready, including your CV, statement of motivation, and a personal photo. For Indonesian applicants, please also include an English language certificate.
All documents should be PDF or image files such as JPG, PNG, GIF or BMP.
Your CV
This should include:
- contact details
- date of birth (you must be aged 23-40 when the program begins)
- your work in the community
- current employment
- education
- awards or other recognition
- any relevant publications
Remember:
- For work and community engagement, please include dates and explain your role in each position
- If using abbreviations, please explain them
- For education, please include dates and area of study
- You can include links to your publications or community organisations you work with, if helpful!
Statement of Motivation
This helps us understand your motivation for applying for the AIMEP. It’s also an opportunity to highlight your contribution to your community and share your interest in your neighbouring country. It should be between 1-3 pages long. Please include:
- What you hope to gain from the AIMEP
- What you can offer as a delegate
- What you would like to convey about Muslim communities in your home country
- Topics or issues that you would like to learn about in your neighbouring country (Indonesia or Australia), and/or particular organisations or individuals that you would like to hear from
- How you can share and build on your experience after the AIMEP
We recommend you avoid relying on AI to write your statement of motivation. The selection panel is looking for your authentic voice, lived experiences, and genuine reflections. AI can’t tell your story – only you can.

English Ability
As the AIMEP will take place mainly in English, applicants from Indonesia are requested to demonstrate their English competency by attaching a recent testing certificate such as TOEFL or IELTS. All certificates (including ITP, prediction or university TOEFL) issued after 1 January 2020 will be considered by the panel in accordance with their status. The minimum requirement for English ability is as follows:
TOEFL PBT or ITP: 500
TOEFL iBT: 61
IELTS: 5.5
Duolingo Full Test or Free Test: 95
TOEIC: 600
If you do not have the above certificates, you can submit any other evidence that you have, including evidence of working or studying in an English-speaking context, or online tests such as Duolingo Free Test.
If you are unsure about your English certificate or would like us to consider alternative evidence of your English ability, please contact us directly to discuss further.
References
Please include two to three reference letters to support your application. All recommendations should be from people who know you well. Please use PDF or image formats.
Reference letters can be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia.
There is no specific format or template that needs to be followed.
A good reference letter should address the following:
- Describe how the referee knows the applicant
- Describe the applicant’s community activities and contributions
- Describe the applicant’s qualities and strengths
- Describe any other characteristics or achievements that makes the applicant a strong candidate for the AIMEP
It is highly recommended that all reference letters be submitted on time, however, if your referee is unable to submit their reference before the application deadline you can note this in your application and email the reference letter to: info@mosaicconnections.com.au by 23 May 2025, with the subject: <Applicant name> – Reference letter.
When all of your documents and reference letters are ready, please click on the ‘Application’ button for your country of origin. Fill in all required details and attach your documents.
If your application is successful you will be invited to a Zoom interview with the selection panel. This will be the final stage of the application process.
Our team will get in touch with more details, including who is on the panel, what they are interested to learn more about, and the date and time of the interview.
All applicants will be informed via email about the outcome of their application. Please check our Key Dates for this year’s timeline for application outcomes.
Applicants who successfully make it through the interview will be offered a place on the 2025 program.
We will contact you to begin onboarding, and look forward a journey of learning, connection, collaboration, and transformational discussions!
